2009 TREASURE STATE TRIATHLON RESULTS
Tritons Rack Up 500 Points For USAT Pacific Northwest Club Championships!
Seventeen Tritons participated in the 2009 Treasures State Triathlon. Winning their division, Jonathan Long, Mandy Axelson, Sherri Pearson and Molly Hayes took home the gold! Jonathan Rice and Bill Claridge landed silvers, while Jeremy leFeber and Bridget Benjamin finished with a bronze. Overall, and unofficially, Tritons accumulated 491.79 points towards the 2009 USAT Pacific Northwest Club Championships. Congrats to all, for a terrific race. Spring Meadow awaits! MAKE IT HURT ON THE DIRT OFF-ROAD DUATHLON – Saturday, July 4, 2009
Join in the Fun @ Homestake Lodge, Butte, Montana
The Hurt On the Dirt Duathlon is back for 2009 and is being hosted by Triton Sponsor Homestake Lodge on Homestake Pass near Butte. Racers may either compete as individuals or in teams. There are classes for adults and two junior categories. After the event there will be a barbecue, beverages, and music. Adult distances are 8 miles/bike, and 4 miles/run. The Under 10 Junior Course is 2 miles/bike, and 1 mile/run, the under 14 Junior Course is 4 miles/bike and 2 miles/run. Terrain is a combination of logging roads, trails, and single track suitable for most riders and runners. Adult Individual – $30.00, Adult Relay – $35.00, Youth – $12.50, additional barbecue ticket $7.50 (1 bbq ticket included with race entry). Over 75 competitors currently on board, with the usual large flurry of last minute entries expected this week. 6th ANNUAL CHILDREN’S TRIATHLON – Bozeman (Bogert Park), June 27
City of Bozeman Recreation Department Event for Children Ages 6-12
Recreation Department Needs 30 Volunteers & Certified Flaggers!
The Children’s Triathlon is a fun opportunity for children to get exposure to participating in a race. Swim, bike and run. Children will be divided by age. All groups will start in waves at Bogert Pool, ride along the Gallagator Trail, and run around Bogert Park. Participants provide their own equipment. Bike helmets are required. Pre-registration is required at the Beall Park Recreation Center, 415 N. Bozeman Ave. $10 for City residents, $12.50 for non-City residents. 8:15 AM Check-In, 8:30 AM Participant Meeting, 9:00 AM Race Starts. Volunteers needed from 8:15 AM – 10:00 AM. The Spring Meadow Triathlon is serving as the Pacific Northwest’s Special Qualifier. Some may remember this race course as the Sweet Pea Triathlon from the 1980’s and early 90’s. Originally, the race finished in Bozeman, but due to growth in the valley the race will start and finish in Three Forks. The swim will consist of two counter clockwise loops in the Three Forks Golf Course Pond. Wetsuits are recommended. The bike course is out-and-back consisting of flat, rolling and a few steep climbs. All of the climbs offer great views of the surrounding mountains and the Montana landscape. The small towns of Logan, Manhattan and Churchill will welcome triathletes, when cycling through their communities. The course will be open to traffic and all riders must wear a helmet and obey all traffic laws. No drafting and all USAT rules apply. The 13.1 mile run course is two loops and flat, on paved and dirt roads. Spectators will have plenty of chances to see and encourage their athletes along the course. A few miles will be on gravel roads so racing flats are not recommended. If you choose to stay in Bozeman, the 25-minute commute to the race venue is quick and easy. The Sacajewea Inn (www.sacajaweahotel.com) in Three Forks is the host hotel. Packet pick-up will be at Fleet Feet Sports in Bozeman on Saturday from 10-3. The pre-race meeting is on Saturday night at the Sacajawea Inn. Test your endurance. Make history, and compete in the first half iron race in Montana! Podium finishes, records, and age group awards are within your reach. It’s the first race. Relay teams are welcome. Support the race, and race planning effort, by entering today!
