2011 USA Triathlon Pacific Northwest Region Championships

Here’s the line up of 2011 USA Triathlon Pacific Northwest Region Championships and Special Qualifiers. The three Regional Championship and Special Qualifier races occurring prior to August 12, 2011 qualify the top 33% per age group for the 2011 USA Triathlon Age Group Nationals in Burlington, Vermont on August 20. 2011.

At its January social, the Bozeman Triathlon Club selected the Coeur d’Alene Triathlon (along with the Grizzly and Spring Meadow Triathlons) as a Triton Team Racing event. If you’re planning your races for this year, hopefully you’ll sign up for the Coeur d’Alene Triathlon.

We’re not certain of the rules yet, but the 2011 Region Club Championship may be at stake at the CDA Triathlon, too. The venue makes for a fun group event!

Spring Meadow Triathlon on Sunday – Club Championships Sprint Distance Race

SPRING MEADOW TRIATHLON — This Sunday, July 11!
Spring Meadow Lake State Park, Helena
Go Tritons! USAT Pacific Northwest Region Club Championship Race – Sprint Event, Sign Up Today!

The Club recently learned that the Spring Meadow Sprint Distance Triathlon is again serving as a USA Triathlon Pacific Northwest Region Club Championship event. In 2008, the Tritons finished #1 in the Regional Club Championships. The Club finished #2 in 2009, right behind the big city of Portland Ironheads Triathlon Club and well ahead of our neighbors, the Helena-based Team Great Divide. Assuming the same Championships scoring format as 2009, the Club will be awarded Club Championship points for each Triton participating in the Spring Meadow sprint distance race, with the points being scaled based upon age group finish. Triton participation is key to winning the Club Championships, and you are encouraged to support the Club and enter the sprint distance race. Besides, while racing, enjoy wonderful people, beautiful scenery and warm July weather in the heart of Montana. The Spring Meadow Triathlon is an athlete and spectator friendly event with incredible support for both new and seasoned competitors.  It just might be the best outdoor triathlon in Montana. To enter the sprint distance race, just click here — http://www.active.com/triathlon/helena-mt/spring-meadow-triathlons-2010. Race on.

Triton Ryan Takeshita at 2009 Spring Meadow Triathlon

Triton Ryan Takeshita basks in the afterglow of his awesome PR.  Here’s a vote for Ryan, as the Bozeman Triathlon Club’s most improved triathlete.

In the sprint distance, Tritons Tom DeLuca and Katie Boyce finished first in their respective age groups.  Additionally, Tom was the male overall  master winner.  This race was an official event on the USA Triathlon Pacific Northwest Region Club Championships circuit.  With their 1st place finishes, Tom & Katie earned 25 points each for the Bozeman Triathlon Club.  Congrats to Tom, Katie, and all Tritons for your terrific races today!

2009 Spring Meadow Triathlon Swim

Competitors in the Olympic series triathlon event tackle the 1,500 meter swim in Spring Meadow Lake.  The swim was followed by a 24.9-mile bike ride and a 6.2 mile run.

Triton Quote — “I’d like to finish the swim in less than 45 minutes.  For me, it’s the hardest part.”  Check it out, included in this Helena Independent Record feature article here — http://www.helenair.com/articles/2009/07/13/top/top/50lo_090713_springmeadow.txt
